Established in 2001 on a vacant city property, the Pacific and Sixth Community Garden is a small patch of green on busy Pacific Avenue.
The north wall hosts a land-to-sea tile mural by Steve Elicker and Joseph Giri, based on children’s drawings of sea life. The Garden received a facelift in 2011 with the help of a Neighborhood Improvement Project Grant, with rebuilt beds and a whimsical red caterpillar sculpture on the fence.
Though most of the garden plots are reserved for senior citizens at nearby Park Pacific Tower, several are open to the greater public.
